Our suffering is often held in our bodies. Pain, disrupted sleep, and other symptoms are signals. On the surface we may look successful. Privately we can be struggling physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Dr. Mauli Shah is the daughter of Indian immigrants. After a career as a software engineer, she changed paths to pursue a doctorate in psychology, and is now a Licensed Psychologist in New York, District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.

Dr. Shah works with individuals facing health challenges who are ready to try new tools so life can feel fuller on their terms. She uses a mind-body approach through a holistic biopsychosocial-spiritual lens, looking at strengths and stressors shaped by culture, history, relationships, and environment. Some patterns build resilience. Others keep us stuck or on autopilot, unclear on our values or the life we want.

Together she and the client select trauma informed, evidence-based methods to jumpstart your innate capacity to heal and to live by what matters to you most. Her approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based therapy, interpersonal therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Her specialty in behavioral medicine sits at the intersection of physical and mental health. She also has advanced training in treating sleep problems, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Nightmares (CBT-N).

From Dr. Shah: I would be honored to help you tune in to your body’s messages with compassion rather than fear, so your wisest Self can choose actions aligned with the life you want.
