A support group is a gathering of people who share similar challenges, experiences, or life situations and come together to help one another cope, learn, and feel less alone. Sharing can ease the burden and provide some relief. Finding others who understand what you are going through can serve as a source of comfort.

In a support group, members typically share personal experiences, offer emotional support and understanding, and exchange coping strategies. All this takes place in a safe space free of judgement. Privacy and confidentiality of the group members is respected.

Support groups are led by trained facilitators. Facilitators can be professionals like psychotherapists or peers who share similar experiences.

About the Support Groups

Although some support groups can be in-person, all support groups listed below are virtual on the Zoom platform. All support groups are FREE.

It is important to remember that support groups are not therapy groups and no counseling or psychotherapy is provided. Occasionally an individual attending a support group may also benefit from seeing a psychotherapist.
