I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Professor of Counseling at Eastern Michigan University and have been working in this field for two decades. I use a combination of attachment-focused EMDR, somatic, psychodynamic, narrative and cognitive behavioral approaches, and incorporate brain-based and body psychotherapies in conjunction with talk therapy. In counseling, this means that I will be listening for the meaning you make of your life and explore with you ways in which you can understand your own stories and shape them to the kind of life story you prefer. Such an approach focuses on you as the expert in your own life. I am interested in the totality of your experience in terms of past, present, and future, the identities, cultures, environments and sociopolitical contexts in which you live, as well as in body and mind. I work with you to be able to restore your life, in attitude, feeling, and behavior, such that you have the healthy outcomes you desire.
