Hi! My name is Anoushey Khan and I’m a California Licensed Psychotherapist (LMFT#131555). I have over 10 years experience providing Mental Health support and counseling both in Pakistan and in the United States. I’m an immigrant raising two children here in the US – a world very different to where I grew up and spent my formative years. I strive everyday to instill a sense of pride and belonging that my children can hold on to as they navigate a world and set of experiences very different from my own. As a result I understand and empathize with the struggle, the exhaustion, the triumph and the hard work that goes into parenting as a South Asian. I won’t say I have mastered it but I do feel that my educational and professional experience has given me some valuable tools and self confidence that make this journey a little less daunting. I want to extend that same support and expertise to other parents as well as individuals and families so they can also feel empowered. I bring my personal experiences and characteristics such as empathy and compassion while working with clients. At the same I also use empirically proven therapeutic modalities and empower clients towards self discovery and acceptance. I’m bilingual and offer services in English and Urdu/Hindi. I‘m primarily a client centered therapist and believe in every child, teen and adult’s ability at being the most suitable navigator of their own lives. At the same time, I acknowledge the tools and expertise I have acquired through my educational and professional experience that can be utilized to steer clients when they hit road blocks and challenge them to push their own limits. The therapeutic relationship is a collaborative partnership between the clients and myself where both of us are present and ready to tackle the challenges together. In our work together I create collaborative therapeutic goals with my clients that address their unique circumstances and aspirations.
