In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness month, Salesforce will host a virtual fireside chat focused on mental health awareness for its South Asian employees, featuring Dr. Makhija leading an interactive and engaging Q & A session. Issues of stigma, myths of mental illness in South Asian community and access to care will be addressed.

SAMHIN is focused on addressing mental health needs in the South Asian community through culturally sensitive education, support, and access to care. At events like this Vaisakhi mela, we aim to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and connect people with resources that truly understand our cultural backgrounds.
You will learn about symptoms and signs of depression and how to support family and friends experiencing depression. Resources will be provided at the event.
The SAMHIN team of clinicians will provide free confidential mental health screenings for stress, anxiety, depression, alcohol and drug use, behavior problems, and smoking/tobacco use. The clinicians will be available to answer your questions and provide guidance and referrals. Free educational handouts will also be available. Free naloxone nasal spray will be provided to help prevent opioid overdose deaths.

SAMHIN will have a presence at the annual Dussehra Festival celebration at Papaianni Park in Edison, NJ, where festivities will run all day, culminating in the Ravan Dahan ceremony in the evening. Our dedicated team of volunteers will be on-site to promote mental health and wellness, as well as to offer mental health screenings.
