The South Asian Mental Health Initiative and Network (SAMHIN) is honored to be invited by the Nepalese community to promote mental health awareness at the Nepalese-American Heritage Festival and Buddha Jayanti celebration. The event will be held at the New Jersey Buddhist Vihara and Meditation Center in Princeton, home to one of the largest Buddha statues in North America, standing at 30 feet tall. The SAMHIN team will engage attendees in meaningful conversations about mental health, working to reduce stigma and foster greater understanding of mental illness. Educational handouts will be made available to improve understanding of mental illness and available treatments.Other important activities at the festival will be Lakh Batti Ceremony, Buddh’s Khat Ceremony, Presidential Awards, cultural performances and fun activities. There will be delicious Nepali food and art displays. SAMHIN Team will engage the guests and strive to increase mental health awareness and decrease stigma.
