South Asian Mental Health Initiative and Network (SAMHIN) has partnered with Swaminarayan Temple in Parsipanny, New Jersey to organize this exciting workshop. Dr. Sudha Wadhwani will conduct this interactive workshop. This workshop for teens, college students and young adults who are coming of age and trying to find a way to navigate both their family/cultural identity and the social world around them. It can be hard to balance two worlds that can feel so different and clash at times. Join us in connecting with your peers and learning strategies to feel more understood and opening conversation with your parents and families. We will discuss how to manage the expectations and pressures from both worlds, as you determine your own identity… personally, socially, academically, and professionally. Topics will include developing your cultural identity on your own terms; being social and grounded at the same time; building healthy friendships and confidence; and achieving the right balance of both worlds that works for you.
