Women’s Mental Health – East Brunswick, New Jersey

South Asian Mental Health Initiative and Network in collaboration with East Brunswick Public Library and Rutgers RWJ Medical will continue in the series, Mental Health in the South Asian Community and present on Women’s health. Medical students from Rutgers RWJMS will present and invite listeners to ask questions. Some of the myths surrounding women’s mental health will be discussed. Presenters will explain relationship between hormonal changes and emotions. Differences between Premenstrual dysphoric disorder and normal emotional changes during menstrual cycle will be explained. Presenters will discuss various sources of stress and signs of emotional distress. Unique challenges facing South Asian women especially when living in joint families will be addressed.
