There is shock and sadness in the aftermath of the tragic death of four individuals (parents and two children) in Plainsboro, NJ. Engineers of the NIT alums are looking for ways to understand this and learn what can be done to prevent such tragedies. The workshop will address anxiety and stress issues, mental illness stigma, domestic violence, and why South Asians are reluctant to seek help when needed.
The main topic is a discussion about the stigma of mental health and mental health issues in the South Asian population. Panelists will answer questions about mental health and the impact of stigma on the well-being of medical students.

On Day Two of this 2-day event, on May 21, mental health screenings will be conducted. In addition results of EKG and blood tests will be reviewed.
