Mental Health Awareness at Vaisakhi Mela – Hicksville, NY
SAMHIN is focused on addressing mental health needs in the South Asian community through culturally sensitive education, support, and access to care. At events like this Vaisakhi mela, we aim to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and connect people with resources that truly understand our cultural backgrounds.
Mental Health in the South Asian Community: Depression
You will learn about symptoms and signs of depression and how to support family and friends experiencing depression. Resources will be provided at the event.
Health Fair and Mental Health Screening – Secaucus, NJ
The SAMHIN team of mental health providers will provide free mental health screenings for stress, anxiety, depression, alcohol and drug use, ADHD, and smoking/tobacco use. The clinicians will be available to answer your questions, address concerns and provide guidance and referrals. Free educational handouts will also be available. Naloxone nasal spray will be available free. Medical teams will provide EKG, blood tests, physical therapy advice, eye exams, etc.

SAMHIN will have a presence at the annual Dussehra Festival celebration at Papaianni Park in Edison, NJ, where festivities will run all day, culminating in the Ravan Dahan ceremony in the evening. Our dedicated team of volunteers will be on-site to promote mental health and wellness, as well as to offer mental health screenings. We invite you to enjoy the festival and visit our tent with any questions regarding mental health and substance use. Free educational materials will be available for distribution!
