Understanding South Asian Mental Health – Introduction

SAMHIN collaborates with PsychSIGN (Psychiatry Student Interest Group Network) to bring you this workshop. This is the first in a planned series of seminars/workshops. In this 90-minute session, Dr Zeshan will discuss issues of dual identity, LGBTQ and gender identity, youth pressures with parents, and facilitating discussions between parents and children. Dr. Makhija will discuss the shame and stigma associated with mental illness, barriers to care, and misconceptions in the South Asian community.
