Hello, I’m Dr. Shah!
I am a second generation South Asian mental health provider with a passion for treatment of adults and older adults.
The goal in therapy is to become the best version of yourself. My clinical specialties include working with adult and older adult clients with anxiety, depression, East and South Asian intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, anger and stress management, relationship stress, and support for caregivers of loved ones with dementia. Our mind and body have a fascinating connection, and we would explore methods of healing from a number of techniques that pull from Western and Eastern medicine. Additionally, I am passionate about exploring and treating unique stressors associated with late-life to promote positive aging in our community.
Within our larger South Asian community, my goal is to both raise awareness to and reduce stigma associated with seeking psychotherapy, and explore the emotional challenges faced by many South Asians attempting to balance Western and Eastern philosophies of living and the impact on physical and emotional wellbeing. As we each learn to adapt to cultural globalization moderated by social media and the like, it is becoming increasingly important for us to stay connected with our loved ones while learning to preserve each of our individual identities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
