SUMMARY:Mental Health and the South Asian Community - Understanding Anxiety: A Community Symposium\, East Brunswick\, New Jersey
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an informative symposium where medical students from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School will discuss the many forms and presentations of anxiety. This collaborative event—hosted by the South Asian Mental Health Initiative and Network (SAMHIN)\, Rutgers RWJ Medical School\, and the East Brunswick Public Library’s Just For the Health of It initiative—aims to increase awareness\, dispel myths\, and provide practical guidance on managing anxiety. \nThe presentations will explore a wide range of anxiety-related conditions\, including unexplained feelings of fear\, social anxiety\, specific phobias\, and panic attacks. Speakers will also discuss how anxiety can co-occur with other psychiatric conditions and how it affects the body both physically and emotionally. \nAttendees will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders\, better understand available treatments\, and discover ways to support individuals struggling with anxiety. The session will conclude with a Q&A\, and participants will receive helpful resources to take home. \n \n
